“Yes, you get to curl, but you also get to meet people and make friends.”
Curling is one of the fastest growing winter sports in Canada with many thousands of participants partaking in both the social and competitive aspects of the game. If you are new to curling, check out the More Curling Sites page for more information about curling.
The Oakwood Curling Club was first started on December 5, 1940 in the Old Skating Arena. In the fall of 1945, a movement was made to build our own rink, and the present building opened in the fall of 1946, with 3 sheets of ice.
75 years later the club is still going strong, with over 120 members. The clubhouse was given a facelift in 2011; come and see the new look!
The Oakwood Curling Club offers something for everyone, whether you're a senior, a junior, a competitive curler or just want to have fun and make new friends.
There are leagues for ladies, men, mixed, and seniors. There is also a Little Rocks program for those under 15 years of age. Bonspiels are held throughout the season.
Two other curling clubs, Ops and Little Britain, use the ice in Oakwood. Local schools use the club to introduce elementary students to the game of curling.
